Graph the line y=-1/4x +4

To graph a line we need at least two points

so

Find out the intercepts

step 1

Find the y-intercept (value of y when the value of x is zero)

For x=0

y=-(1/4)(0)+4

y=4

y-intercept is (0,4)

step 2

Find the x-intercept (value of x when the value of y is zero)

For y=0

0=-(1/4)x+4

(1/4)x=4

x=16

x-intercept is (16,0)

step 3

Graph the line

Plot the intercepts and join them

see the attached figure
