The volume of the trough is;

74ft^3

Here, we want to calculate the volume of the trough

As the top is same as the bottom and the sides are same, we need to calculate the area of the base and multiply by the height of the water trough which is 2 ft uniform

By adding the area of the different shapes, we can have the volume of the trough

We have the top area (which is same as the base) as the area of the recatngle that measures 2 ft by 8 ft and the rectangle that measures 7 ft by 3 ft

We have this as;

\begin{gathered} \text{Area of rectangle = length }*\text{ width} \\ \text{Area of trough = (2 }*\text{ 8) + (7}*3)=16+21=37ft^2 \end{gathered}

The volume here is now this area multiplied by the height of 2 ft

We have this as;

\text{Volume = 37 ft}^2\text{ }*2ft=74ft^3
