Lucy bought a freezer on wheels and sells popsicles in her neighborhood. She wrote the equation 10x - 8y = 160 to represent her profits, y, after selling x popsicles. How much does she make per popsicle she sells (do not consider the cost of the freezer in her per popsicle profit)?

We will determine how much she makes per popsicle she sells as follows:

*We replace y = 0 on the expression and solve for y, that is:

10(x)-8(0)=160\Rightarrow10x=160
\Rightarrow x=16

From this, we have that after 16 popsicles she will start earning profits,

*Now, we determine the earnings per popsicles:

We replace for x1 = 16 and x2 = 17 and the difference between y2 & y1 will be the earnings per popsicle, that is:

**For x1 = 16

y=0

**For x2 = 17

10(1)-8y=160\Rightarrow-8y=-10
\Rightarrow y=1.25

So, the value of each popsicle is $1.25.
