The quadratic equation is

-2a^2-11a-10=0

a = -2

b = -11

c = -10

discriminant is

\begin{gathered} b^2-4ac \\ (-11)^2-4\cdot(-2)\cdot(-10) \\ 11^2-80 \\ 121-80 \\ \\ 41 \end{gathered}

The discriminant is positive = 2 real solutions.
