We have the follwing:

a+(a+1)+(a+2)=48

So, we solve for a and we will find the smallest number:

\Rightarrow3a+3=48\Rightarrow3a=45\Rightarrow a=15

So:

15 + 16 + 17 = 48.

The smallest number is 15.
