The formula for calculating the length of an arc is expressed as

length of arc = θ/360 x 2 x π x r

where

π is a constant whose value is 3.14

r is the radius of the circle

θ is the angle subtended at the center of the circle by the arc

From the information given,

θ = 12

r = length of pendulum = 47

By substituting these values into the formula,

length of arc = 12/360 x 2 x 3,14 x 47 = 9.83867

Rounding to the nearest hunderdth,

length of arc = 9.84 inches
