Given:

A rectangular bathroom that is 9 feet long and 7.5 feet wide.

The cost per 6-inch tile is $0.50.

The cost per 18-inch tile is $2.75.

So, the area of the bathroom = 9 x 7.5 = 67.5 ft^2

The area of 6-inch tile = 6 x 6 = 36 in^2

1 foot = 12 inches

So, 1 ft^2 = 144 square inches

So, the area of bathroom = 67.5 x 144 = 9720 in^2

so, the number of tiles will be =

(9720)/(36)=270

so, the number of tiles = 270 tiles
