The slope can be found as follows:


\begin{gathered} m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1) \\ _{\text{ }}where\colon \\ (x1,y1)=(-1,1) \\ (x2,y2)=(1,-3) \\ so\colon \\ m=(-3-1)/(1-(-1))=(-4)/(2)=-2 \end{gathered}
