Jose bought a 20-pound bag of food for his dog.

he fed his dog one half of pound of dog

y represent the mount of dog food that remains at the end of each day,

Only hlaf pound is used in each day,

Let x be the number of days

since pounds of food used in 1 day = 0.5

then pounds of food used in x days = 0.5x

The amount of food left = Total food available - food used to feed the dog in x days

The amount of food left = 20 - 0.5x

thus, y = 20 - 0.5x

Answer : y = 20 - 0.5x
