SOLUTION

In this question, we have that :

Mr. Jamison picks up 5 sketchbooks that cost $16.12 and 4 erasers that cost $6.54.

The total cost of the art supplies = $ 16. 12 + $ 6. 54 = $ 22 . 66

If the sales tax = 6 %

Then, Mr. Jamison would pay 6 % of $ 22.66

\begin{gathered} \frac{6}{100\text{ }}\text{ x \$ 22. 66 =} \\ \\ \frac{135.\text{ 96}}{100} \\ =\text{ \$ 1. 3596} \\ =\text{ \$ 1. 36 ( nearest hundredth )} \end{gathered}
