Given: The volume, 'Q', and the distance from the source as 'n'. also Q=91db and n=16m.

Required: To write the formula for Q as a function of 'n'.

Explanation: Since the volume,'Q' of a sound is inversely proportional to the square of the distance, 'n'

Q\propto(1)/(n^2)

Taking, 'k' as the proportionality constant we get,

Q=(k)/(n^2)................(1)

Now we have to solve for k. Putting the value of Q and n as given in the question we get,

91=(k)/(16^2)
k=91*256
k=23296

Substituting this value of k in eq 1 we get,

Q=(23296)/(n^2)

Final Answer-The formula for Volume, Q is-

Q=(23,296)/(n^(2))
