The given equation is x² = 64

x² = 64

Apply square root on both side of the equation;

\sqrt[]{x^2}=\sqrt[]{64}

Since, we know that 8 x 8 = 64 and (-8) x (-8) = 64

so, 8² = 64

\begin{gathered} \sqrt[]{x^2}=\sqrt[]{64} \\ x=\sqrt[]{8^2} \\ x=\pm8 \end{gathered}
