Given:

Perimeter of rectangle is 78 feet

Let the width of the rectangle be w

Then the length of the rectangle be 2w

Now, the perimeter is given by the formula:

P=2(l+b)

Substitute l= 2w and b=w

\begin{gathered} P=2(2w+w) \\ =2(3w) \\ =6w \end{gathered}

Given perimeter = 78 feet so,

\begin{gathered} P=6w \\ 78=6w \\ w=(78)/(6) \\ w=13 \end{gathered}

Hence, the width of rectangle is 13 feet

The length of rectangle is 2w= 2(13)=26 feet.
