In this question, we have to determine how much energy must be absorbed in the bonds before the reaction begin, we have the reaction:

H2 + CO2 -> CH2O2

As we can see, we have the energy of each bond

H and H = 432 kJ/mol

C and O = 799 kJ/mol

Since we have 2 oxygens bonded to the carbon atom, we will have 799 * 2

Therefore the total energy before the reaction begin is:

432 + 799 * 2 = 2030 kJ, 2nd option
