A unit rate is ratio where the denominator is usually 1. We can calculate unit rate as a division of two quatities. For example, the price of 10 apples is $20, then the unit rate is the division of $20 by the number of apples

$20/10 = $2 per apple

So, the unit rate is the price per apple.
