A plant was 12 inches tall and grew to be 15 inches tall. What percent increase is this?

\begin{gathered} 12+12x=15 \\ \text{Where:} \\ x=\text{percent} \\ \text{Solve for x:} \\ 12x=15-12 \\ 12x=3 \\ x=(3)/(12) \\ x=(1)/(4)=0.25 \end{gathered}

Percent = 0.25*100 = 25%
