Part a

2x+3=-4

solve for x

subtract 3 on both sides

2x+3-3=-4-3

2x=-7

Divide by 2 on both sides

2x/2=-7/2

x=-7/2 ---------> x=-3.5

Part b

Find x when y=0

2x+3y=-4

so

For y=0

substitute

2x+3(0)=-4

2x=-4

x=-4/2

x=-2

Part c

Find y when x=0

2x+3y=-4

For x=0

2(0)+3y=-4

3y=-4

y=-4/3

Part d

2x+3y=-4

solve for y

that means

isolate the variable y

so

subtract 2x on both sides

2x+3y-2x=-4-2x

3y=-4-2x

Divide on both sides by 3

3y/3=(-4/3)-(2x/3)

y=-(4/3)-(2/3)x
