SOLUTION

Step1: write out the formula for the probability of an event E

\begin{gathered} Pr(E)=\frac{required\text{ outcome }}{Total\text{ possible outcome}} \\ \\ \text{Total possible of a die is 6} \end{gathered}

Step2: Write out the parameters

\begin{gathered} \text{probability of obtaining 3 is } \\ Pr(3)=(1)/(6) \end{gathered}

Then

\begin{gathered} \text{Probability of obtaining 5} \\ Pr(5)=(1)/(6) \end{gathered}

The probability that the roll of a die will show 3 or 5 is

\begin{gathered} Pr(3)+Pr(5) \\ (1)/(6)+(1)/(6) \\ (2)/(6)=(1)/(3) \end{gathered}

The probability that the roll of a die will show 3 or 5 is 1/3

The right option is B
