(5)/(12)

Both the denominators should be same to be subtracted.

So, let's multiply
(5)/(6) with 2 so that its denominator will be 12 as well.


(5)/(6) x
(2)/(2)


(10)/(12)

Now, lets subtract this with
(5)/(12)


(10)/(12) -
(5)/(12)

While subtracting, you don't have to subtract the denominators. Only find the difference between the numerators- 10 and 5.

10-5 is 5.

So,


(10)/(12) -
(5)/(12) =
(5)/(12)


(5)/(12) is the answer!
