hello

let's assume the room is a rectangular room and we can use the formula for area of a rectangle to find the total area

we can convert the dimensions from feet to yards

\begin{gathered} 1yd=3ft \\ \text{length =} \\ 1yd=3ft \\ \text{x yd}=15 \\ x=(15*1)/(3) \\ x=5ft \\ \text{width} \\ 1yd=3ft \\ z\text{ yd= 12ft} \\ z=(12*1)/(3) \\ z=4yd \end{gathered}

now we've established that the length and width of the room is 5yd and 4yd respectively

\begin{gathered} \text{area}=l* w \\ \text{area}=5*4 \\ \text{area}=20yd^2 \end{gathered}

the square yard required is 20yd^2
