Since the regular straight pay is for 40 hours and the employee worked 46 hours, then 6 of them are considered overtime.

Multiply 40 hours times the earning rate of $12 per hour.

Then, multiply 6 hours times the earning rate of $12 per hour and multiply the result by 1.5.

Finally, add the corresponding amounts for the regular pay and for the overtime pay to find how much money the employee will earn.

Regular pay:

40*12=480

Overtime pay:

6*12*1.5=72*1.5=108

Total payment:

480+108=588

Therefore, the employee will earn $588.
