How to solve this problem. What is 2/8 + 1/10=

To add the fractions we need to remember the following rule:


(a)/(b)+(c)/(d)=(ad+bc)/(bd)

In this case we have a=2, b=8, c=1 and d=10; then we have:


\begin{gathered} (2)/(8)+(1)/(10)=(20+8)/(80) \\ =(28)/(80) \\ =(7)/(20) \end{gathered}

Therefore the final result is 7/20.
