We can verify the solution by replacing the unknown with the number and see if the equality stands or not. If the equality stands (we get an identity), then the number is a solution.

14) We replace x with 4:

\begin{gathered} 7+3x=19 \\ 7+3\cdot4=19 \\ 7+12=19 \\ 19=19\longrightarrow\text{True} \end{gathered}

As the result is an identity, then x=4 is a solution.

15) We replace P with 8:

\begin{gathered} P+10=12 \\ 8+10=8 \\ 18=8\longrightarrow\text{not true} \end{gathered}

As the result is not an identity, then P=8 is not a solution.
