the distance between the homes of A and B = 86 mile

speed of person A = 48 miles/hour

After one half-hour the distance traveled by A = 0.5 * 48 = 24 miles

the remaining distance = 86 - 24 = 62 miles

the speed of person B = 76 miles/hour

let they will meet at point x after t hours

So, the distance AX = 48 t

and the distance BX = 76 t

AX + BX = 62 miles

so,

48 t + 76 t = 62

124 t = 62

t = 62/124 = 0.5 hours

so, they meet after 0.5 hours
