The temperature of the environment affect the temperature of the body by requiring the heating or the cooling of the organism to maintain a temperature that is appropriate for its survival. If the organism have a larger body, more effort will be needed in order to maintain a suitable temperature, because the area to be kept at this temperature will be larger.
