Problem

Use the distance formula solve the following segment ab has endpoints a(2,-9) and b (6,-6) determine the distance ab round to the nearest tenth

Solution

For this case we can use the distance formula given by:

d=\sqrt[]{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}_{}

And for this case we have x1= 2, y1= -9, x2= 6, y2=-6 and replacing we got:

d=\sqrt[]{(6-2)^2+(-6+9)^2}=\sqrt[]{25}=5

And then the distance would be d=5
