At State College last term, a large number of students completed a Spanish course. 54 of the students earned As, 89 earned Bs, 112 got Cs, 76 were issued Ds, and 44 students failed the course. If this grade distribution was graphed on a pie chart, how many degrees would be used to indicate the F region?

The total number of students who attended the exam is 375.

So, if we graph the given data on a pie chart, then 375 students are denoted by 360 degrees. So, 1 student is denoted by 360/375 = 0.96 degrees.

The students who failed are 44. So,

44*0.96=42.24\text{ degrees}

Thus, 42 degrees would be used to indicate the F region on a pie chart.
