The standard form for the equation of a line is:

y=mx+b

In which m represents the slope of the line and b represents the y-intercept

Since the slope of the line is already given, we can use the point given to find the y-intercept.

y=2x+b

Using the point (8,19) as (x,y) we replace x and y in the equation

19=2\cdot(8)+b

Simplify both sides of the equation

19=16+b

solve the equation for b, when substracting 16 on both sides of the equation

\begin{gathered} 19-16=16+b-16 \\ 3=b \end{gathered}

the equation of the line is

y=2x+3
