In order to be able to understand which number is larger than the others (notice we have to order in DECREASING order, so start with the largest) we are going to write all of them in decimal form.

We are then going to locate them on the number line, since comparing negative numbers can be tricky, and not as easy as comparing positive numbers.

the number we ned to convert into a decimal is -5/3, which we do by dividing, or simply using a calculator: -5/3 = -1.666666666... (a periodic number, but good enough to help locate it on the number line)

The list of numbers is so far: -13; -0.89; -1.6666666; 1.53

Then, the largest one is the only positive number we have: 1.53 .

So that one goes on the right hand side of zero on the number line.

Then we need to place the other three numbers. Notice that -13 goes all the way to the left on the number line (this is the smallest of the three negative numbers. -5/3, which is -1.66666, is placed to the left of the -1 tick on the number line, while -0.89 is placed to the right of -1 tick on the number line. This -0.89 is the negative number closest to the origin (zero) on the number line.

Then now that we have all numbers located on the number line, we go fromright to left finding that "decreasing order" we were asked for:

Start with the positive 1.53, then move to the left and encounter the next point: -0.89, then continue to the left and find -1.666 (our description of -5/3), and finally -13 way to the left.

The decresing order is then: 1.53, -0.89, -5/3, -13
