In a pet store

There are 8 puppies, 10 kittens and 6 parakeets.

The total number of pets, i.e total outcome is

8+10+6=24

Let P represent puppies

Let K represent kittens and

Let Pa represent parakeets

The formula to find probability is

\text{Probability}=\frac{\text{required outcome}}{total\text{ outcome}}

The probability of choosing a puppy, i.e P(P) is

\begin{gathered} P(P)=\frac{\text{required outcome}}{total\text{ outcome}}=(8)/(24)=(1)/(3) \\ P(P)=(1)/(3) \end{gathered}

The probability of choosing a kitten, i.e P(K) is

P(K)=\frac{\text{required outcome}}{total\text{ outcome}}=(10)/(24)=(5)/(12)

The probability of choosing a puppy or a kitten, P(P or K) is

\begin{gathered} P(P\text{ or K)}=P(P)+P(K)=(1)/(3)+(5)/(12) \\ P(P\text{ or K)}=(4+5)/(12)=(9)/(12)=(3)/(4) \\ P(P\text{ or K)}=(3)/(4) \end{gathered}

The probability of choosing a puppy or a kitten, P(P or K) is 3/4

Hence, the right option is B
