Is x = 4 a solution to the equation 15x + 1 = 59?

Given


\begin{gathered} 15x+1=59 \\ 15x=59-1 \\ 15x=58 \\ x=(58)/(15) \\ x=3.87 \end{gathered}

at x=4, the expression on the left hand side will not be equal to the expression on the right hand side .

Hence x=4 is not a solution to the equation

LHS

15(4) + 1= 61

RHS= 59

59 and 61 aren't the same
