(a) The perimeter and area of the window include:

Perimeter: 204 in.

Area: 2312
in^2

(b) A measure that would be used in finding the amount of wire needed is Perimeter.

(c) A measure that would be used in finding the amount of glass needed is Area.

Part a.

In Mathematics and Geometry, the perimeter of a rectangle can be calculated by using this formula;

P = 2(L + W)

Where:

  • P represent the perimeter of a rectangle.
  • W represent the width of a rectangle.
  • L represent the length of a rectangle.

By substituting the given side lengths into the formula for the perimeter of a rectangle, we have the following;

P = 2(34 + 68)

P = 204 in.

In Mathematics and Geometry, the area of a rectangle can be calculated by using the following formula:

Area of rectangle = LW

Area of rectangle = 34 × 68

Area of rectangle = 2312
in^2.

Part b.

Since the silver wire will be placed around the window, a measure that would be used in finding the amount of wire needed is the perimeter because it gives the total length around the window.

Part c.

Since the window's glass will be replaced, a measure that would be used in finding the amount of glass needed is area because it gives the total size of the region enclosed by the perimeter.

Step 1

Given;

Step 2

A) The area is given as;

\begin{gathered} Area=length* width \\ Area=68*34=2312in^2 \end{gathered}

The perimeter is given as;

\begin{gathered} Perimeter=2(length\text{ +width\rparen} \\ Perimeter=2(68+34)=204in \end{gathered}

B)

\begin{gathered} Perimeter\text{ is the measure of the entire boundaries of the rectangles} \\ Thus,\text{ the measure used to find the amount of wire is the perimeter} \end{gathered}

C)

The\text{ measure used to find the amount of glass needed is the area}
