\begin{gathered} 2.12\rightarrow100\% \\ 2.26\rightarrow x\% \end{gathered}

which is equivalent to


(100)/(2.12)=(x)/(2.26)

Solving for x,


\Rightarrow x=(226)/(2.12)=106.60377...\approx107

Then 107-100=7%. Therefore, the percentage of increase is 7%
