we have

2^4+((1)/(2))^3

simplifying

16+((1^3)/(2^3))
16+((1)/(8))
16\ast(8)/(8)+(1)/(8)
(16\ast8+1)/(8)=(128+1)/(8)=(129)/(8)
(129)/(8)=16.125
(1)/(8)=0.125

and

16(1)/(8)=(16)/(8)=2

in conclusion

16+(1)/(8)\\e16(1)/(8)

however

since how the problem is written this is just syntaxis and this is open to a teacher interpretation so technically the values are not the same but can be represented the same way
