Given the equation:

6+3x=18

to solve for x, first we move the 6 to the right side of the equation with a negative sign. We get then:

\begin{gathered} 6+3x=18 \\ \Rightarrow3x=18-6=12 \\ 3x=12 \end{gathered}

now we have to move the 3 to the right side. Notice that since it is multiplying the variable x, it will pass to the other side dividing the constant 12:

\begin{gathered} 3x=12 \\ \Rightarrow x=(12)/(3)=4 \\ x=4 \end{gathered}

therefore, x = 4
