Solution

When a coin is flipped, the outcome is either a head (H) or a tail (T).

The total possible outcome is 2

The probability of flipping a head, H, is

P\left(H\right))=(1)/(2)

When spinning a spinner numbered 1 to 4

The total possible outcome is 4

The probability of obtaining an odd number, i.e {1, 3} is

\begin{gathered} P\left(Odd\right)=(2)/(4)=(1)/(2) \\ P\left(Odd\right)=(1)/(2) \end{gathered}

The combined probability of getting a heads when flipping a coin and an odd number when spinning a spinner with 4 equal parts numbered 1 to 4 will be

\begin{gathered} P=P\left(H\right)* P\left(Odd\right) \\ P=(1)/(2)*(1)/(2)=(1)/(4) \\ P=(1)/(4) \end{gathered}

Hence, the answer is 1/4 (option A)
