we have that

m+n=-16 -------> m=-16-n -----> equation 1

m=7n -------> equation 2

Solve the system of equations

equate equation 1 and equation 2

-16-n=7n

solve for n

7n+n=-16

8n=-16

n=-16/8

n=-2

Find out the value of m

m=7n ------> m=7(-2)

m=-14
