Let the initial value is b

Since the cost per hour is $8

Since the number of hours is 5 hours

Since the cost of the 5 hours is $62

Then

b+5(8)=62
x+40=62

Subtract 40 from both sides to find x

\begin{gathered} b+40-40=62-40 \\ b=22 \end{gathered}

The initial value is $22

The slope-intercept form of the equation is

y=mx+b

Where m is the rate of change (8) and b is the initial value (22)

y=8x+22
