The way to get an equivalent expression is by first organizing the expression by leaving the same variables together. So the equivalent expression:

a+4a\text{ - 3b +5C}

Now, to simplify the expression, we operate each variable separately. In this case for b and C there are no more variables to operate, so we only simply the variable a. In this case, a+4a =5a. So the final expression is

5a\text{ -3b +5C}
