Given the points ( 5 , 4 ) and ( - 4 , 3 )

The slope = Rise/Run

Rise = The difference between y - coordinates = 4 - 3 = 1

Run = the difference between x-coordinates = 5 - (-4) = 5 + 4 = 9

So, the slope = Rise/Run = 1/9
