9 - 2x = 35

Add 2x to each side, we have:

9 - 2x + 2x = 35 + 2x

9 = 35 + 2x

Subtract 35 from each side, we have:

9 - 35 = 35 - 35 + 2x

-26 = 2x ⇒ 2x = -26

Divide each side by 2, we have:

x = -13
