How many liters of paint must you buy to paint the walls of a rectangular prism-shaped room that is 16m by 12m with a ceiling height of 8m if 1 L of paint covers 40m^2? (Assume there are no doors or windows and paint comes in 1 L cans.)

The length of the room is 16 m.

The breadth of the room is 12 m

The height is 8 m

So, the area of four walls of the room is

\begin{gathered} A=2(16*12+12*8+16*8) \\ =832\text{ sq. m} \end{gathered}

40 sq. m is covred by 1 L paint.

So, to cover 832 sq. m, total paint required is

(832)/(40)=20.8\text{ L}

Hence, 20.8 L of paints must be bought
