Given:

2 girls liked math, 8 boys liked math, 24 girls liked history, and 12 boys liked history.

The ratio of girls to boys is,

\begin{gathered} \text{for maths } \\ (2)/(8)=(1)/(4) \\ \text{for history,} \\ (24)/(12)=(2)/(1) \end{gathered}

the ratio of boys to girl is,

\begin{gathered} \text{For maths,} \\ (8)/(2)=(4)/(1) \\ \text{For history,} \\ (12)/(24)=(1)/(2) \end{gathered}

From the above ratios,

For every girl who liked math, 4 boys liked maths.

For every boy who like history, 2 girls liked history.
