A 10.00g piece of tungsten (density 19.35g/mL) and a 14.56g piece of zinc (density 7.14g/mL) are placed into a graduated cylinder with 35mL of water. What is the new water level?

1) Find the volume of tungsten (W)

V_((W))=10.00\text{ g W}\cdot\frac{1\text{ mL}}{19.35\text{ g}}=0.5168\text{ mL W}

2) Find the volume of zinc (Zn)

V_((Zn))=14.56\text{ g Zn}\cdot\frac{1\text{ mL}}{7.14\text{ g}}=2.039\text{ mL Zn}

3) What is the new water level?

Final volume = 35 mL + 0.5168mL+2.039mL = 37.5558mL
