Given the coordinates of a line segment with two points

Step 1: Write out the coordinate and identify the x and y values

\begin{gathered} (-9,-9),x_1=-9,y_1=-9 \\ (-6,-12),x_2=-6,y_2=-12 \end{gathered}

Step 2: write out the formula for the slope (m )

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

Step 3: Substitute the x and y values and solve for the slope

m=(-12-(-9))/(-6-(-9))
\begin{gathered} m=(-12+9)/(-6+9) \\ =-(3)/(3) \\ =-1 \end{gathered}

Hence the slope of the line is -1
