Your bedroom needs new carpeting, and you calculated its square footage to be 180 ft^2. When you took thedimensions to the carpet store, they recommended you buy 207 fr^2. What percent extra is the store recommending?

for this problem we know that the required area for the room is 180 ft2 but in the carpet store they recommend 207 ft2. And we want to estimate the percentage extra that they are recommending and we can use the following formula called relative percentage change:

P=(\left|new-reference\right|)/(reference)\cdot100

Where P represent the percent of change, new represent the recommended value of 207 ft2 and the reference value is 180 ft^2. Replacing we got:

P=(\left|207-180\right|)/(180)\cdot100=15

And then the pecentage extra is 15%
