The given equation is

3(x-8)=6x-18

First, we use the distributive property

3x-24=6x-18

We add 24 on each side

\begin{gathered} 3x-24+24=6x-18+24 \\ 3x=6x+6 \end{gathered}

Now, we subtract 6x on each side

\begin{gathered} 3x-6x=6x+6-6x \\ -3x=6 \end{gathered}

At last, we divide the equation by -3

\begin{gathered} (-3x)/(-3)=(6)/(-3) \\ x=-2 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the solution is -2.
