Given, the weight of the truck, W=17000 N

The coefficient of static friction, μ=0.170

The frictional force is the force that opposes the motion of an object. The static frictional force acts on the objects at rest and opposes the motion of the objects.

To get the truck rolling the force applied to the truck should be more than or equal to the static frictional force acting on the truck.

The static friction is given by,

f=W\mu

On substituting the known values,

\begin{gathered} f=17000*0.17 \\ =2890\text{ N} \end{gathered}

Therefore the force required to start the truck rolling is 2890 N
