the given expression is

1(2)/(3)-(7)/(9)

the calculation is given as follows,

\begin{gathered} (5)/(3)-(7)/(9)=(10-7)/(9)=(1)/(3) \\ \end{gathered}

first we jump from 7/9 to 1

so the length will be

= 1 - 7/ 9

= (9-7)/9

= 2/9

now we have 2/9

then we jump from 1 to 1 2/3 or 1 to 5/3

so ,

\begin{gathered} 1(2)/(3)-1 \\ (5)/(3)-1 \\ (5-3)/(3)=(2)/(3) \end{gathered}

now the total length is

2/9 + 2/3

(2)/(9)+(2)/(3)=(2+6)/(9)=(8)/(9)

it is clearly seen that at the place of 4/9 there will be 8/9

6/9 will be 8/9.
