A pizza chain is willing to pay $1 to each person interviewed about the likes and dislikes of types of pizza crust. Of the people interviewed 150 liked thin crust, 210 liked thick crust, 45 liked both, and 30 did not like either type of crust. On your work paper construct a Venn diagram to illustrate the interview results. How much did the pizza chain pay or the interview? = $What percent of the people interviewed like either thin or thick crust? (Round to the nearest whole percent) = %

Survey results:

Thin crust: 150

Thick crust: 210

Both: 45

None: 30

We construct the Venn diagram:

From the results, we know that:

\begin{gathered} x+45=150 \\ \Rightarrow x=105 \\ \\ y+45=210 \\ \Rightarrow y=165 \end{gathered}

The final Venn diagram is:

From this, we can calculate the total number of interviewed people:

Total=105+45+165+30=345

Then, if each one of them received $1, the pizza chain paid $345 for the interview.

We calculate the number of people who liked either thin or thick crust:

105+165=270

Finally, the percent of the people interviewed who like either thin or thick crust is:

(270)/(345)\cdot100\%\approx78\%
